Making your own Valentine’s Day cards can seem daunting, especially after scouring Pinterest and the local card shops. Let’s face it…not all of us are professional crafters!
However, I am pleased to let you know, it’s not as hard as it seems- it will even be a fun project for you and your kiddos to do together!
Not only is making your own cards a fun family project, the recipient of your card will feel very special knowing how much thought and energy you put into making them a special Valentine’s Day card.
You will see how I got my inspiration for these cards by checking out Jessie’s Party Stop’s Pinterest board which is filled with DIY Valentine’s cards to be inspired by.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
First, you are going to need a few things to get started which you can purchase at your local craft store or find around the house.
Valentine craft paper (I bought Martha Stewart’s Valentine craft paper from Amazon.)
Cotton string or raffia
A variety of plain colored blank cards (You can find them at Amazon)
Step 2: Create your cards
Choose a color card you want from your selection of blank cards
Then choose a pattern or hearts you would like to cut out
Simply arrange and rearrange them, playing with patterns and textures until you are pleased with the composition and design
Step 3: Glue your design onto the card
When you are happy with your composition/design, take your glue stick and carefully glue the individual pieces down and let dry.
Add in any last details like sayings, poems or others and viola!
I love Valentines poems and messages and felt compelled to put a Pinterest board together of all the ones I could find. You can find it at Jessie’s Party Stop’s Pinterest Board, Valentine’s Quotes.
Enjoy spreading the love on Valentine’s Day with your one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day cards!
